Jaehyuck Choi (b. 1994, Seoul)

South Korean composer/conductor Jaehyuck Choi, a graduate of The Juilliard School and the 1st prize winner of the 72nd Concours de Genève, quickly distinguished himself as one of Korea’s most prominent young artists.

Choi’s music is being actively performed in the United States, South Korea, as well as in Europe with the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich, Dal Niente Ensemble, TIMF Ensemble, etc., with commissions scheduled until 2019. Recently, his music was praised as “…much sense of expressivity, color, movement, motion, and a beautiful way of how to display energy” by Matthias Pintscher.

Since 2015, Choi founded a contemporary ensemble, Ensemble Blank, in Korea which he leads both as composer and conductor in trending music scenes and venues in Korea. As he continues to pursue his profession in conducting as well, he had been invited to IRCAM conducting master class and Royaumont conducting master class to study with Péter Eötvös.

Choi, a lover of paintings, movies and driving, currently resides in New York and Seoul.
